To Qualify and become an approved driving instructor

You will have 3 searching exams to pass:

Part 1 – Theory exams and hazard perception

This is based like the L driving theory exam but a higher number of questions with a higher pass mark required; following the multiple choice questions there will be the hazard perception element of the test ,again a higher pass mark is required then the L test.

Andrew assigns 6 hours of your course to assist you in preparing to successfully pass the part 1 with a high mark and give PDI’s the firm foundation to assist with the part 2 examination. All training 1;1 ratio with Andrew Taylor

Part 2 – A 1 hour driving test with a hi

gh standard of driving is required.

This is based around “The Essential Skills” driving manual.

Andrew assigns 10 hours as a ball park figure to prepare PDI’s to pass this exam, again looking to achieve a high pass mark. 6 driving faults is the pass mark with the DSA, could you pass without a fault? Others have! Once again this exam gives the firm foundation to assist with the part 3 examination all training 1:1 ratio with Andrew Taylor.

Part 3 – A 1 hour test of instructor ability

This exam is a role play scenario. The examiner will first role play a part trained/beginner, you will be asked to teach this driver any 1 of the 10 pre-set tests. For the second phase of the test the examiner will role play a trained driver approaching a test but having difficulty with an element of driving or it could be that of a full licence holder experiencing difficulties. In these phases you will need to identify, analyse and correct this drivers faults.

Andrew assigns a minimum of 40 hours training for this exam. This is also stipulated by the driving standards agency. All training 1:1 ratio with Andrew Taylor. All 40 hours are in car training.

All courses are tailored to the individuals needs and are totally flexible around your current employment and family commitments.

Training is usually carried out in short sessions of 2 hours but intense courses can be arranged for clients who have some distance to travel.

Andrew has developed instructor courses to keep you motivated and mastered experiential learning techniques.

The cost of the 56 hour PDI course is £1,950 which includes all reference books but not DSA test fees. Alternatively pay as you train at £70 per 2 hour training session.
